About the Faculty
The Faculty of Social Sciences and Health is part of the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra. This institution focuses on training professionals for work in the social field, psychology, healthcare, and clinical medicine. The faculty's structure includes the Institute of Applied Psychology and departments of Psychological Sciences, Social Work, Nursing, as well as Clinical Disciplines and Emergency Medicine.
Studies at the faculty are conducted mainly in Slovak at the bachelor's level. Students gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for work in selected medical and social fields. The programs are focused on modern standards of care and psychological support.
For applicants from Ukraine, studies can be free of charge if they know the Slovak language. The application fee (prihláška) is 25 euros, and the deadline is March 31, 2026. Students can live in a dormitory (internát) for an additional fee.

How to apply for nursing (Ošetrovateľstvo) in Nitra and are there entrance exams?+
The bachelor's program "Ošetrovateľstvo" (nursing) at FSVaZ UKF in Nitra accepts students without a traditional entrance exam — selection is based on high school results. There are about 70 places open for full-time study and 30 for external (part-time) study. Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2026. The application fee is €25.
The study is practice-oriented: students complete clinical practice in hospitals, so sufficient knowledge of Slovak is required to work with patients. After the bachelor's degree (3 years), the graduate receives a qualification as a nurse, which is recognized in the EU according to the directive on the automatic recognition of regulated professions.

Is there an entrance exam for "Urgent Medical Care" (Urgentná zdravotná starostlivosť)?+
Yes, this is the only program at the faculty with a mandatory check — a talent test in physical education, as the job of a rescuer requires good physical fitness. In 2026, the test is planned for April 16–17, 2026; each applicant will be informed of the specific date by email. About 45 places are planned for full-time study and 25 for external study.
The rest of the bachelor's programs (nursing, psychology, social work) do not have a talent test. The general application deadline for all programs is March 31, 2026, with a fee of €25. After successfully passing the physical test, the applicant is admitted based on the combined results of high school.

Full-time study in Slovak within the standard period is free for everyone, including Ukrainians under temporary protection; fees are charged only for exceeding the study period or for a second parallel study.
In fact, the main expenses for a student are accommodation, food, and study materials.
