Frequently asked questions about the faculty

What is the language of instruction at the Faculty of Economics and Management of SPU, and is there an English program?+

Most FEM bachelor's programs are taught in Slovak — these are Ekonomika a manažment podniku, Obchod a marketing, Účtovníctvo, financie a dane, and Aplikovaná ekonómia a analýza dát. Full-time study in Slovak within the standard 3-year period is free, so knowledge of Slovak is required for it.

For those who want to study in English, the faculty offers a separate bachelor's program, Economics and Business Administration. However, English-taught and all external (externé) programs are paid. Therefore, a Ukrainian can choose either a free Slovak-taught program or a paid English-taught program.

How is admission to the FEM bachelor's program conducted, and do foreigners take an entrance exam?+

Admission to the bachelor's program is based on the results of tests in two elective subjects of choice: economics, mathematics, or a world language. The exam is waived if the average grade of the secondary school certificate is 1.70 or lower, or if the applicant has at least the 50th percentile in the general academic prerequisites test (VŠP/SCIO), or has won a prize (top-3) in a regional or national economics olympiad.

Foreign applicants for Slovak-taught programs are admitted without a classic entrance exam — based on the overall average grade of their studies and submitted documentation, and the procedure includes an online interview via electronic communication means. The electronic application is submitted through the UIS SPU system by April 30, 2026; the fee for the admission procedure is €40.

What do graduates of the Faculty of Economics at the agricultural university work as?+

FEM graduates find employment as economic and management staff, lower and middle managers, employees of domestic, foreign, and international agribusiness companies, operations managers, and sales representatives. They also find jobs in consulting firms and analytical departments of banks and insurance companies.

Graduates of the Obchod a marketing (Trade and Marketing) program work mainly in trade, sales, and marketing — in lower and middle management and professional positions: retail and trade networks, service and tourism companies, marketing, brand management, and digital commerce.

Is tuition at FEM SPU free and how much does it cost to apply?+

Full-time study in Slovak within the standard period (3 years for bachelor's) is free (bezplatne), as in other state universities in Slovakia. All external (externá) form programs and programs taught in English are paid.

The fee for the admission procedure for an electronic application is €40; the application is submitted online through the University Information System SPU (UIS) by April 30, 2026. For scholarships and social support, it is worth checking directly with the student department of the faculty (studfem@uniag.sk).
