About the Faculty
The Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Prešov in Prešov is a part of the university and is located in the city of Prešov. Currently, 1721 students study here, and 14 departments ensure the educational process. The faculty specializes in humanities and social sciences.
Studies are conducted in Slovak in three degree programs: Bachelor (bc), Master (mgr), and Doctor of Philosophy (phd). About 35 study programs are available to applicants, combining academic and practical training.

Frequently asked questions about the faculty
Do I need to take an entrance exam for the Faculty of Philosophy at Prešov?+
For most bachelor's programs, there is no personal entrance exam. Applicants are admitted based on comprehensive high school results: overall academic performance, grades in the main subject, type of high school, and so-called "non-specific progress" (competitions, certificates, publications). Maximum score is 50 points.
An in-person exam (talent test, 50% weight) is only held for combinations with music and visual arts. The flagship programs – psychology and English language and Anglophone cultures – admit students without this exam, based only on high school grades.

In what language is the instruction and can Ukrainians apply?+
Bachelor's studies are conducted in Slovak. Therefore, foreign applicants are advised to complete a preparatory Slovak language course. Applicants who finished school abroad must submit an officially certified copy of their diploma, its sworn translation into Slovak, a "dolozka" (supplement) confirming the recognition of their foreign education level, and a sworn statement about the authenticity of the documents.
The faculty is particularly attractive to Ukrainians: it houses the Institute of Ukrainian Studies, and Ukrainian language and culture can be chosen as a separate major or in combinations (translation and teaching). This eases adaptation and provides a profession related to their native language.

How much does admission and study cost at the faculty?+
The administrative fee for admission is 30 EUR for an electronic application and 35 EUR for a paper application. Applications are submitted through the MAIS system, after which a printed, signed copy must be sent to the faculty's address.
Standard full-time study within the normal duration is free. Payment is required only for exceeding the standard duration or for simultaneous study in a second program (around 1000 EUR/year); self-paying students are admitted based on a contract.

How to recognize a Ukrainian certificate for admission (nostrification)?+
Applicants who studied at a foreign secondary school must submit, no later than the day of enrollment, an officially certified copy of their secondary school leaving certificate, its sworn translation into Slovak (by a translator and a notary), and an application for recognition of their foreign education. Incomplete or non-nostrified certificates will not be accepted.
Applications for recognition of education level are submitted through the state portal uznanie.minedu.sk. We recommend starting the procedure in advance, even before applying for studies, to complete it before enrollment.
