Faculty of Fine Arts
About the Faculty
The Faculty of Fine Arts is part of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica. It is the only university in Slovakia that focuses only on artistic disciplines. The institution is located in the center of the country and works with students from all over Europe.
Studies include painting, sculpture, media art, and other visual arts fields. Programs are available at the bachelor's and master's levels. Teaching is mainly in Slovak, but there are some courses in English, and students work in modern studios.
To apply, you need to submit a prihláška (application form), educational documents, and pass an art competition. Studies in Slovak are free; studies in English are paid. Dormitory accommodation (internát) is provided upon request, and application deadlines usually end at the end of February.

Updated 21 July 2026For most bachelor's programs, admission is grantedwithout entrance exams— based on the average grade of the certificate in relevant subjects. A bachelor's diploma in the relevant field is required for master's programs. Applications are submitted via ePrihláška.
