Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, during a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko in Košice, assured that his country supports Ukraine's European integration course and will not slow down its accession to the European Union.
During the talks, the parties discussed energy security, defense cooperation, infrastructure restoration, and the use of frozen Russian assets for Ukraine's needs. Following the meeting, the governments agreed to create a joint "roadmap" for partnership.
The Ukrainian Prime Minister emphasized the importance of developing long-term defense contracts and Slovakia's support for Ukrainian initiatives, especially in the energy sector. Agreements between the delegations were finalized in joint documents.
Special attention was given to modernizing border infrastructure. Specifically, plans include expanding the crossing point between Uzhhorod and Vyšné Nemecké, which should improve the movement of cargo and pedestrian traffic.
Among social initiatives, the parties discussed the possibility of establishing a Ukrainian school in Slovakia. It could be located in Bratislava, where the largest Ukrainian community lives. The project is seen as an important step to support Ukrainian children and develop cultural exchange between the two countries.
Fico stressed the desire to maintain good neighborly relations with Ukraine while also maintaining stable contacts with other states. Both sides assessed the negotiations as constructive and productive.
