The transport ministers of both countries signed a memorandum on the creation of a high-speed railway line that will allow trains to reach speeds of 320 km/h. The project is part of the V4 countries' initiative to connect Budapest, Bratislava, Prague, and Warsaw.
Travel time between the capitals should be cut in half, making the railway a main competitor to air travel and cars. Construction is planned to start around 2030 and be fully completed by 2046.
