Gas in Slovakia will become more expensive due to new transportation tariffs

Starting May 1, 2026, all consumers will notice a change in gas prices due to a sharp reduction in the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine. The costs of maintaining the half-empty Slovak network have fallen on the shoulders of domestic consumers. The network operator demanded a radical price increase, but the regulator (ÚRSO - Regulatory Office for Network Industries) approved a moderate tariff increase. Since transportation costs make up only about 6–7% of the total bill, a sharp jump in prices on bills is not expected, but the final amount to be paid will still increase slightly.
