Spišská Nová Ves — a town of 34,023 inhabitants in the heart of Spiš, near the Slovak Paradise. There are 473 people with temporary protection registered in the district — less than two percent of the entire Košice region, which is the country's record holder (28,846 people).
And here is a pleasant discrepancy: despite its small community, the town has a fully functional support center for Ukrainians with its own premises, which operates five days a week. Not even some regional cities have this.
The rental market is tight but cheap: one-room apartments have a median price of €410, two-room apartments — €550. However, there were only six listings for one-room apartments in the entire town.

Every address and every opening time comes from the office's own website and was checked on 2026-07-25. Before a long trip it is still worth calling: schedules change without notice.
Material aid, job search, child protection, escort to the doctor, school enrollment, housing. The head of the center is Mgr. Oľga Semančáková. For a town of this size, this is an unusually comprehensive structure: its own premises and a five-day work week.
There is no local branch. The Košice office serves Košice I–IV, Košice-surroundings, Gelnica, Rožňava, and Spišská Nová Ves. Temporary protection registration — on Thursdays.
Since June 2025, additional reception windows have opened in Košice — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. This has significantly eased the booking process.

For a city with a community of 473 people, this is unusually high — some regional cities don't have this.
Go to the hospital's emergency room — Janského 1, phone +421 53 4199 555. The reception is open 24/7, and this is confirmed by the hospital operator themselves (rare: Trenčín and Martin do not have such confirmation).
One caveat: the hospital is undergoing expansion, and the location of the outpatient clinics is changing. The children's on-call service has already been moved to the hospital's atrium — enter through the main entrance. It's worth calling before your visit.

But keep in mind how narrow the market is here: there were only six listings for one-room apartments in the selection for the entire city. This means you need to start searching in advance and not count on a wide selection.
