Prievidza is a city of 41,961 inhabitants in Upper Nitra, the center of a former coal region. At the end of 2023, the power plant in Nováky stopped burning coal, and the region is still rebuilding.

This is visible in the numbers: unemployment in the district is 4.05% – the highest in the Trenčín region, where the remaining districts are within the 2.3–2.8% range. At the same time, there are over a thousand job vacancies in the region, and industry is alive here: Brose makes car parts, and the Nestlé factory is the only one in Slovakia.

Where to go for documents from Prievidza?+

In Trenčín, Jílemnického 2, phone +421 961 203 234 — there is no dedicated police for foreigners in Prievidza. It's about 70 km.

Registration for temporary protection and application for a document is on Thursday, 7:30 AM–2:00 PM. Registration opens 21 days in advance through the Ministry of Interior's reservation system.

Matriculation and registration of residence are handled in the city: mayor's office, Námestie slobody 14, ground floor of building A.

What's working today: Brose (auto components — window and trunk lifts), Nestlé Carpathia plant — the only one in Slovakia, the former coal company HBP, which now repairs wagons and grows produce in greenhouses, the chemical plant Fortischem in Nováky, and the hospital in Bojnice.
