About the Faculty
The Faculty of Philosophy of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius is located in the city of Trnava. This university department specializes in humanities, offering education in the departments of psychology, philosophy, history, and ethnology.
The educational process is conducted mainly in Slovak at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. Students can choose programs in applied philosophy, ethnology, or become teachers by studying combinations of English, German, Russian, Slovak languages, history, or civic education.

The deadline for applications for bachelor's studies for the academic year 2026/2027 is April 30, 2026. The admission fee is €40 and is the same for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels.
Applications are accepted exclusively electronically via the e-prihlaska.ucm.sk portal, and payment is made only by bank transfer to the account of the State Treasury (IBAN SK59 8180 0000 0070 0007 1919). Proof of payment must be attached to the electronic application; without it, the application is incomplete. The final check of admission conditions will be carried out by the commission in June 2026.

Does the Faculty of Arts of UCM train teachers and which languages can be studied?+
Yes, a significant part of the offer consists of teacher training programs in combinations of two subjects: English, German, Russian, and Slovak language and literature, history, and civic education in various combinations. This is a direct path to qualifying as a teacher for secondary and primary schools in Slovakia.
Besides teaching, the faculty offers psychology, philosophy and applied philosophy, ethnology and non-European studies, as well as language and cultural programs in 'professional communication' (English, German, Russian). Full-time study in Slovak is free; the admission fee is €40, the deadline is April 30, 2026.

Why do Ukrainians choose UCM in Trnava and is studying there free?+
Trnava is a compact university city half an hour from Bratislava, with lower living costs than the capital but with access to the capital's job market. Full-time study in Slovak at UCM is free for the standard duration, including for citizens of Ukraine, who are accepted on equal terms.
The only mandatory payment during admission is the €40 fee. To be enrolled, you need a recognized document of secondary education and sufficient knowledge of Slovak, as teaching is conducted in Slovak. The application must be submitted electronically by April 30, 2026.
