Frequently asked questions about the faculty

How is admission to FMK UCM in Trnava? Is the SCIO test required?+

Yes, admission to most bachelor's programs at FMK is based on the results of the SCIO test “Všeobecné študijné predpoklady” (General Study Prerequisites) in Slovak or Czech – no separate entrance exam is taken at the faculty. Results from tests taken approximately between December 1, 2024, and April 25, 2026, are accepted, so you can take the test in advance at a convenient time.

The application deadline is April 30, 2026, for most programs; for the English-language “Public Relations” program, the deadline is later – August 14, 2026. Applicants are expected to have a good knowledge of at least one foreign language (English or German). You can apply for only one program per academic year.

How much does it cost to apply to the Faculty of Mass Media Communication at UCM?+

The fee depends on the program: for “Masmediálna komunikácia” (Mass Media Communication) and most programs, it is €35 for a paper application or €30 for an electronic application, and for “Marketingová komunikácia” (Marketing Communication), it is €40 regardless of the submission method. The fee is non-refundable, so you should only pay after you have finally chosen your program.

Full-time study in Slovak is free for all students within the standard study period, including Ukrainians with temporary protection. The English-language program “Public Relations” is usually paid. The exact fees for each program are published in the official admission conditions for the relevant academic year.

What majors does FMK UCM offer and can I study video game creation?+

Yes, among the nine bachelor's programs is “Teória digitálnych hier” (Theory of Digital Games) – a rare field in Slovakia, managed by a separate Department of Digital Games. Other programs include: Marketing Communication, Mass Media Communication, Applied Media Studies, Digital Design, Digital Communication and Responsibility, Psychology of Advertising and Consumer, Media Relations, and the English-language Public Relations.

The faculty has 6 departments and practical facilities – its own radio, TV studio, and creative studios, so studies combine theory with work on real media projects. It is one of the most popular communication faculties in the country; graduates work in advertising, PR, digital agencies, and media.
