About the University

J. Selye University is a public higher education institution founded in 2004 in Komárno. It has three faculties and is the only university in Slovakia where the main language of instruction is Hungarian; programs are also available in Slovak and some courses in English.

Studies include Bachelor's, Master's, and theological programs, especially at the Reformed Theological Faculty. Strong fields are applied informatics, mathematics, and chemistry; students in these majors have access to industry scholarships and mobility through Erasmus+, Makovecz, and CEEPUS.

Full-time studies in Slovak or Hungarian are free; the fee for the electronic application (prihláška) is €30. The deadline for Bachelor's programs is August, for Master's programs it is June (theology - May). The "Čajka" dormitory is available for 99% of first-year students for ~€70/month.

Is it mandatory to know Hungarian to apply to J. Selye University?+

What is the deadline for submitting an application for the 2026/2027 academic year?+

For bachelor's programs, all three faculties accept applications until August 10, 2026. For master's programs – until June 30, 2026 (Faculty of Economics and Informatics and the Pedagogical Faculty), the Reformed Theological Faculty – until May 31, 2026.

The application is most conveniently submitted electronically through the e-prihláška (e-application) portal; a separate application must be submitted for each individual program, and a fee must be paid separately.

The admission fee is €30 for an electronic application and €55 for a paper one. The study itself in full-time form at a state university is free within the standard duration of the program.
